Cove Fort

June 17th we took a trip to Salt Lake for Mel's sisters wedding. On the way up we stopped at Cove Fort and did the tour. Very interesting. Ira Hinckley in 1867 was sent to build the fort. Here are some pictures. The fort is built of black volcanic rock and dark limestone. Found of a couple of saying's and there history. Don't let the bed bugs bite, their beds were made of stray, they would fluff them up and use a rolling pin that was built into the headboard to make the straw smooth in straw were bugs. Two many irons in the fire, during the spring all the local farmers would bring their cows and calfs to be branded. All the branding irons from all the different farms would be there. The hired hands would have to match cow and calf and find the right iron in the fire. There is a big beautiful garden they raise ever yr . They share with guest and the missionaries eat off of it. We recommend it to all.
